Throughout the year, Yerkes holds public observing events in which you can enjoy the constellations, be amazed at the many celestial objects visible through our telescopes on the lawn, and try out some astronomy-related activities. The star parties will be held regardless of weather.
Each star party has a theme upon which the activities are based. All clear-weather star parties, regardless of theme, include lots of observing under Yerkes' lovely dark skies.
The cost for any of the star parties (cash at the door) is $5 per person ages 7+ (children 6 and under free).
